Accessibility on board the CDG Express

Boarding

The route onto the train is designed so that passengers with reduced mobility can travel without assistance.

All trains have a built-in system to bridge the gap between the platform and the doorway, so wheelchair users can board and alight independently, with no need for staff to set up a ramp or provide any other assistance.

Wheelchair spaces on board

All trains have wheelchair spaces with room to move around easily.

  • A 1.50-metre turning circle on the platforms and in the dedicated wheelchair areas gives wheelchair users room to turn around fully. The step-free layout provides a safe, level route from the platform to the wheelchair space.
  • The train’s carpeted flooring provides a non-slip surface for passenger safety.
  • The wheelchair spaces on board can be used in two ways:
    • You can stay in your wheelchair, without needing to transfer. A power socket and emergency button are conveniently within reach.
    • Or you can transfer from your wheelchair to the accessible seat. You can keep your wheelchair and luggage nearby, and amenities including a power socket, emergency button and table are within reach.

Toilets on board

  • Access: the toilets next to the wheelchair spaces have an automatic sliding door wide enough for a wheelchair. The door is easy to open whether you are standing or seated, and has sound and light signals showing when it is unlocked.
  • Amenities: The toilets are fitted with a washbasin, soap dispenser, bin, hand dryer and emergency call button, all within reach of wheelchair users. The handrails and side grabrail are clearly marked with a symbol, to make it easier to move around safely.

Wheelchair compatibility

Some larger wheelchair models may not fit in the wheelchair spaces on board. This is due to the minimum technical requirements set by the technical specifications for interoperability for persons with reduced mobility (STI PMR).

If you are unsure whether your wheelchair will fit in the wheelchair spaces on board the CDG Express, please contact us using the form on our website.
